Background

Wakiso district association of the deaf (WDAD) is a community Based Organization of Deaf people formed in November as a result of government of Uganda decentralization program. WDAD is a registered CBO number WCB/03/006 under Directorate of community Based services, Wakiso District.

Mission statement:

To guarantee access to social services such as education, security, Health, Equality, Basic human rights and capacity building for all deaf people in Wakiso District.

Vision

WDAD’S vision is equality, dignity and better living conditions for all Deaf people In Wakiso District.

WDAD’S objectives:

  1. to create an enabling environment where all deaf people in Wakiso district can fully participate and benefit from all services at all levels from the village to district level.
  2. to build the capacities of all deaf in the district so as to develop the already acquired skills to help them compete favorably in the job market.

WDAD believes in equality and equity of equal participation and effective delivery of services

It also believes in human dignity, where all programmers’ should be inclusive of deaf people.
